I HAVE NEVER SUFFERED FROM A SHORTAGE OF IDEAS. A shortage of time, shelf space, money, and possibly common sense? Absolutely. Ideas? Never.
Today started with a customer contacting me regarding cleansers. A perfectly reasonable place to start. Then I started thinking about whether I should put hyaluronic acid and niacinamide in my toners, which is also technically related to skin care, so I was still doing fine.
While I was researching the different weights of hyaluronic acid, I got a pop-up of these ridiculously cute little glass pumpkin candle containers, and that was pretty much the end of that. Because obviously, if I have adorable little glass pumpkin candle containers, they need something equally good to go inside them. Except I really don’t like pumpkin scents, so I started to think caramel apple. Then patchouli. Then patchouli with pepita, which is a pumpkin seed, which somehow made this feel clever enough that I could justify this mental side quest.
This is how my brain works. One idea opens a door, and behind that door are six more doors, three questionable decisions, and at least one thing I suddenly feel very strongly about even though it did not exist in my life twenty minutes ago.
IN THE MEANTIME…. whilst I was going through this morning’s rabbit hole....my sweet cat, Calamity Jane (“CJ” or “Super Sweet Cutie-Pie” for short) decided to make a home in the top drawer of my desk...on top of misc. papers, a calculator, a candle lighter, a tiny bowl of cough drops, and a weird cat tea-cup infuser my sister bought me when I was going through my tea phase…still in its package. AND because I cannot just let things be, I had to stop what I was doing, empty the drawer (with her help), tuck in a soft blanky, and then watch her inspect the finished space like a tiny furry landlord. I even managed to get a few pictures before she decided she was no longer interested and walked away.
So now…. my desktop is a mess, the drawer looks ridiculously cozy, and I am still vacillating between caramel apple and patchouli with pepita.
The worst part is that every single idea feels urgent when it arrives.
The cleansers are still sitting there, by the way, waiting patiently.
Like they knew this was going to happen.
